Game of Thrones SN6 E10 – ‘The Winds of Winter’

Welcome back Faith Militants, to your weekly review of Game of Thrones. The episode I shall be recapping is episode 10 of season 6 — ‘The Winds of Winter.’ This episode is actually the longest in GoT‘s history, with a run time of 69 minutes, and a whole dragon’s worth of deaths.

King’s Landing

Cersei, Tommen, the High Sparrow, Margaery, and Pycelle all dress for the trial ahead, mirroring preparation for battle. Cersei in particular is dressing in attire unusual for her, a black leather dress with a chain from shoulder to shoulder. Cersei is going to war. Tommen finishes getting ready and prepares to leave his chambers, but the Mountain does not let him through the door. The trial in Baelor’s Sept commences for Loras Tyrell, and he confesses he is guilty of sleeping with Renly Baratheon, amongst other offences.

His atonement is to join the Faith Militant, which he…

Game of Thrones SN6 E9 – ‘Battle of the Bastards’

Welcome back Knights of the Vale, to your weekly review of Game of Thrones. The episode I shall be recapping is episode 9 of season 6 — ‘Battle of the Bastards,’ which just happened to be on Father’s Day. Nice one HBO. Let’s get started!

Meereen

Daenerys argues with Tyrion about how to deal with those attacking Meereen. Tyrion thinks that Meereen is under attack because it is seen as a threat as long as it has no Master(s). Daenerys says that she’s glad that it’s seen this way, as we all know she doesn’t approve of slavery. She believes in a different method of “negotiating”… killing all those who oppose her. On a stretch of land overlooking Meereen, Daenerys along with her trusted advisers and small group of Unsullied meet with the three Masters leading the attack. They seem to think that she is here to negotiate the terms of her surrender, but she quickly…

Predictions: Game of Thrones SN6 E9 – ‘Battle of the Bastards’

Tonight’s upcoming episode of Game of Thrones is bound to be intense. As the episode’s name suggests, we will witness the ultimate battle between Jon Snow’s army and the Bolton army. With perhaps a surprise from a House you may have forgotten exists: House Reed.

Jon Snow’s army is really small in comparison to the Bolton army. They are outmanned even taking into account the giant Wun Wun. Bolton’s men are trained to use the phalanx formation —think Spartan formation with shields and long spears. We see Tormund and other wildlings have no idea how to counteract this strategic method of fighting once they reach the front line, since Wildlings attack in a surge of strength. That’s just the front line though. It’s followed by lines and lines of archers, pikemen, and mounted soldiers. Despite these odds, we know Sansa wrote to a House. House Reed swore fealty to House Stark…

Game of Thrones Sigil Cupcakes

Cakecrumbs

It’s no secret that I have about 300 fandoms too many. Ever since I was three years old I’ve had my head in a book. Novels have always been a favourite form of escapism: if I don’t have a book on the go I feel completely lost. Every so often a gripping story comes along that spirals quickly into an obsession. An obsession I feel the need to talk about. Constantly. A Song of Ice and Fire, better known as Game of Thrones, is one such obsession.

My other half isn’t so big on reading. Mostly he feels like he doesn’t have enough time to read and never gets around to it. I know dragging him into my favourite worlds via the written word is a lost cause, so when a great adaptation comes along there is much prodding and poking to get involved. He’s endlessly lovely about it, so he always…

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

resident-evil-7-biohazard

Capcom announced a whole new Resident Evil experience at E3 yesterday. I just watched the trailer and the game looks simply amazing. The graphics look great and the ambiance is beyond creepy, which is to be expected from one of the most famous horror game series ever. The developers are saying that Resident Evil 7 should be more horrifying than ever, here’s a statement from the Capcom blog:”No Resident Evil you’ve ever survived could prepare you for this”. What’s more the game will be fully compatible with Playstation VR, I can only imagine how much more scary the game will be with the VR.

Here are some clips from the Capcom blog I thought you might be interested in:”While Resident Evil 7 draws from the series’ roots of atmospheric survival horror, it also delivers a whole new level of terror. In the classic Resident Evil games of yesteryear, players braced…

Later on, while chopping wood at a distance from the rest of the group, the Hound hears screaming in the direction of the people. He abandons his work and heads over, but he’s too late. The villagers have all been killed by the Brotherhood Without Banners, and the group leader has been hung from the wooden structure. Angry, Clegane retrieves his axe and heads off seeking revenge.
